HR Green Announces Sandy Pumphrey as a Project Manager in Iowa

HR Green is pleased to announce that Sandy Pumphrey has joined the firm as a Project Manager for the Water Resources practice in the Cedar Rapids, Iowa office.    

Sandy has varied engineering and management experience across private, public, and non-profit sectors. Prior to joining HR Green, Sandy spent over 10 years at the City of Cedar Rapids where he served as the Assistant Development Services Manager, leading a team that reviewed engineering plans for private developments. He also served as the City’s official floodplain manager and CRS coordinator, encouraging smart stormwater management across the City. Sandy has managed ad-hoc infrastructure-related initiatives including stormwater and sanitary sewer CIP projects, and utility ordinance amendments.

Since starting his career, Sandy has taken a keen interest in leveraging creative ways to reduce flood risk to reduce the loss of life and property damage, along with improving water quality in urban environments. This is also evidenced by Sandy’s long-term involvement in the Iowa Floodplain and Stormwater Management Association (IFSMA) as an active and founding board member.

In his role with HR Green, Sandy will manage projects within the Water Resources group, provide technical assistance to other PMs on floodplain and stormwater management issues, and contribute to the firm’s business development efforts, particularly in Iowa.

Sandy earned his combined BEng/MEng in Civil Engineering with Management from the University of Birmingham, England, where he grew up.
